What is a myth or a legend?

A myth is a made up story that many people believe in. Our ancestors passed these stories down to us. Some myths are positive and full of excitement but some are negative and filled with fright. Many myths are about how things started (e.g. the story of Matariki). A legend is the same thing as a myth.

The senior classes went to Mangere Mountain for this topic. The wonderful guides conducted the classes up the mountain. We walked and the guides taught us some myths and legends from the views that you could see.
